An Old Salt Passes

Lenora and I just learned of the passing of AO Halsey. He passed away last week aboard Polaris Jack, a Lyle Hess Falmouth 26, while on a passage from the Bahamas to the US mainland.

This is a sad lose for the cruising community and for me. I met AO on our first BCC rendezvous in the Cheaspeake and instantly liked him and admire his sailing skills and knowledge of the sea. It was a friendship that lasted 6 years and will never be forgotten.

AO lived his dream and never let his challenges in life stop him.

Fair Winds and Following Seas AO.

Sad news but good that he was able to keep sailing until the end. Rod, I sent you a private message re contact info and their address.

Sorry to hear about AO. I met him some years back when he was cruising the Hudson River. He saw my BCC and introduced himself as he was anchored in our mooring area. Quite a guy and so very knowledgeable on sailing. I listened more than I talked…glad I did.
