BCC''s in Great Lakes

Are there any BCC’s in the Great Lakes ? If so would you mind letting
me see the boat?

My boat, #118, will be in Lake Michigan at Sister Bay, WI. sometime in
July. Check back with me and I will be happy to show you the boat.

Best regards,

Tom Harrer

Thanks Tom:
I will be in Lake Mich. with my big boat James Gang, a Valiant 50 during
July. Please let me know when your boat arrives, I would love to see it

Jim

we own Anita Rock #4 here in San Francisco. My
brother and I are long on desire and short on time,
and had thought that truckin our BCC to Lake Michigan
and then sailing out the lakes via the Seaway would be
a good experience. You apparently know the Lakes and
I would like to hear your comments and/or experiences.

Nate,

Twice in the past few years there has been a flotilla traveling from the Great Lakes/Seaway
area out to Newfoundland, once for Cabot’s 500th Anniversary and the second for the Viking’s
1000th, and one fellow in particular has a fabulous web page with lots of top-notch pictures
with captions of his travels:
http://www.wright-photo.com/flotillaO.htm (specifically from Toronto to Nfld)

and in general, http://www.wright-photo.com/newfound.htm

Also, some other Great Lakes web pages if you haven’t seen them are:

http://www.continuouswave.com (mostly about the North Channel of Lake Huron, highlight
of the Great Lakes with logs and lots of pictures of the area to give you a feel for what it’s like)

http://www.glcclub.com (the Great Lakes cruising club).

I sail mostly on Lake Erie in my Lyle Hess designed boat (not a BCC, sorry), although last week
I spent on the Chesapeake (Choptank area) and I’m hoping to get a couple weeks later this
summer in the North Channel.

Also, you may like this for comparison: I had my Montgomery 17 shipped from near Kalispell,
Montana to Sandusky Ohio last summer. It shared the trailer with a powerboat that was being
shipped from Seattle to Maine. The trip took 4 days and cost about $1,100 as I recall. I used
Deepwater Transport Enterprises (they have a web page, http://www.deepwatertransport.net )
and was pleased with the job they did.

I hope you find those web pages helpful,

Dear Nate;
You would love sweet water sailing. So very easy on the boat and very
different from what you are used to… The Great Lakes have lots of places to
see all within very convenient distances. I suggest that you begin in Lake St
Clair. I can even arrange a marina and a dock for you. Visit Lake Erie for a
few days, Then go North to Lake Huron and the North Channel. It is more
beautiful than the coast of Maine and the water is clear and clean enough to
drink. From the North Channel go to Charlevoix. It’s a vacation spot at the
top of Lake Michigan and close to the sand dunes (yes we do have massive sand
dunes in Michigan).
If you would like to talk to me about it please feel free to call. My office
number is 248-355-2122. Home is 248-855-0469. Eastern time zone

I spoke with Sumio yesterday. Ray Richards, the Naval Architect that I have
retained has completed the redesign of the BCC laminate to strengthen it for
my purpose of Arctic use. Sumio advises that I will probably be the next
boat started. Please let me know when your boat arrives. I would very much
appreciate a tour and maybe a sail
