All my hardware is
bronze, so I don’t worry so much about crevice corrosion (the stainless
steel plague). <

Where did you get your bronze hardware, and if you don’t mind saying, what
is a ball park price for a complete set.

Did you use your original stainless fittings as patterns?

Roger told me that the owner of Cymba was a crevice corrosion victim, and
was forced to replace his chainplates as a result.

I purchased an incomplete set from Roger (lacking one of the chainplates)
and had the missing part made at a machine shop. But now I must get it
polished, and it makes me a bit nervous that it might not be up to
snuff…though it would make an excellent spare in a pinch. (304
stainless)

Besides, bronze fittings would be more in keeping with the red brass boom
gallows pipe, lifeline stanchions and brass kerosene navigation lanterns
that I already have. What can I say, I like green.

Thanks very much. That’s pretty much what I thought, and appreciate
your time.

Tristan,

I quite like the green as well. My BCC was finished in 1979 by an outfit
called Bill Clark Custom Boats, in San Diego. All of the bronze hardware was
provided by Clark. I have a Clark’s 1979 Bronze Hardware catalog, and the
boomkin pad eyes top + btm sold for $22.50 and $25.50 back then. I have no
idea if they’re still in business. They’re phone number is (714)297-2795. I
also have a street address if you want it. In addition to the two padeyes, my
boomkin has 1/8" copper or bronze plate top and bottom in a sort of batwing
shape.

Regards,

Jeremy
