Calypso floats!

Hello all:

Calypso’s bottom paint was wetted for the first time in almost 3 years
at 11 am Monday. . . she floats and the engine works wonderfully,
although we have yet to sail (boom and forward hatch in our garage;
coamings with 2 coats of varnish awaiting jib winch pedestals). Hoping
to sail this weekend.

So . . . shall we plan a rendezvous this fall? So sorry we will miss
the boat show (Roger and Sumio, Rod and Lenora, Kate and Bernie and
countless others, I am sure) but we will be sailing (not Calypso) in the
Bahamas with friends.

Meantime anyone in Deltaville (or reasonable striking distance) is
invited to give a shout on the radio - our boat is on Jackson Creek and
we plan on weekending just about every weekend until we pull her back
out of the water in November sometime (for a time much shorter than 3
years!)

Yippee for rejoining the ranks of those whose boats move when you step
on board!

Cheers,
Nica, Jeremy, Julian, and Madeleine

Quoting Nica and Jeremy,

Sounds good to me, – in fact Itchen is already docked at Vera’s. How about it, Kate?

Dot and I plan to be there also; don’t know which day yet.

Congratulations! If your weekending gets Calypso anywhere near the Patuxent, give us a call and I’ll try to sail Itchen out for a mini-rendezvous. Once I finish some badly needed post-Bahamas cruise touchup varnish & paint jobs we plan to do some short cruises within a day or two of St. Leonard’s Creek.

Nica and Jeremy:

Congratulation on the launch of Calypso. We know the feeling, after spending 5 years rebuilding African Moon, our aft-cabin Nor’star Flicka. Unless one has completed a major refit or rebuild, must sailors have no idea the hard work and long hours required to finish the job.

Now it is time to put a few weekend miles under Calypso’s keel.

Again congratulation.

Fair Winds,

Rod

Congrads on launching Calypso.

We are all to familiar with renovation as we just got Shamrock out of the yard in march following a 3 month peel and epoxy lay up of our bottom, new drive line, thru-hull etal. We now have all the stansions off and are in the process of painting the bullworks and caulking the covering boards.

Our Pan Oceanic 46 is in its third year of renovation and many more to come.

Cheers,

Marty
