charleston to providence

Jon,
Well, it’s often done, but “settled weather” has a way of turning sour out off Hatteras and in the Gulf Stream in general. Right now Itchen and crew are at Coinjock enjoying the prospect of a nice seafood dinner while a cold front and some nasty squalls and rain are scudding overhead towards right where we would be now had we elected the around Hatteras route. Tomorrow we’ll have a short run to Portsmouth/Norfolk. It;s not such a bad trip along this part of the ICW - the North River is particulary nice and we had some good sailing on the Neuse - Pungo leg; all-in-all we had a nice run from Beaufort. It’s a pleasant change to get to know this part of the country at six knots from the cockpit of a BCC instead of our usual 60+ mph down Route 95!
