Gelcoat failure

T Y, Geary Smith, for the fill info. I remember that Practical Sailor
did a moisture penetrating test with some materials, Devoe P235, West
System, ect. Results showed permientation where least expected.
One friend of mine a Bcc owner sanded off his gelcoat and replaced it
with Coal Tar Epoxy. Now some 10 years later the epoxy was failing,
evidenced by a pimpling rash in some underwater areas. His plan is to
remove the epoxy and replace it, thinking that 10 years is a good
lifespan for gelcoat replacment.

I like the vinylester fill and coating idea and will research it more.
