hank on jib vs roller furl

Just my 2 cents worth, but unless the sail needs to be replaced
immediately, I might suggest living with what you have for a bit
prior to changing it. There are distinct pros and cons to each
system and I think they are magnified at the end of the sprit. I
have thought about replacing mine any number of times, but have
always decided against it. Unless the predominence of your sailing
is open ocean and untravelled places, you may find the furler the
lesser of the two evils.

Thanks. I believe you are right on about the hanked vs roller jib. I
will probably keep it for a while and wait and see. There are so many
things the boat really needs, and this can wait.
