Recent illness led to a frailty so that I was having problems tautening the mainsheet. I have now doubled the blocks, and find that I can now sail about 3 degrees closer to the wind, and have lost leach flutter.
However, I suspect some of the flutter may be caused by my sails being 23 years old, and, as we all know, things tend to sag and stretch as old age creeps up.
Jo Ann,
Have you decided on a sailmaker? Our Schattauer sails have held up very well for 15 yrs of sailing mostly in or near the tropics. Axel and Frank are wonderful to work with, they specialize in offshore cruising sails, and the sails have excellent hand work. The Schattauer loft has received top ratings from the Seven Seas Cruising Club equipment survey.
