Pinrails for SADIE?

Has anyone put pinrails on their BCC? Do you have a drawing of yours
that I could see? How many pins to a rail…3 or 4?

Hi, My wife and I are aboard MANDY #32, finished by Don Girod. Don
installed pinrails on each side, three pins to a side. Starboard
starting forward and moving aft are jib halyard/downhaul, then starboard
topping lift (set up with lazy jacks), then open (used for stashing the
clubfooted staysail sheet when not in use). Port forward is the staysail
halyard, then port topping lift, then aft to the main halyard. The rig
is very traditional with blocks providing a 2-1 purchace on the halyards
so we don’t use any winches, just belaying pins technique and elbow
grease. We love the simplicity and neatness of the system. Sorry no
pictures.

Good luck. Steve and Karen Mast, BCC MANDY #32

Charles:  I don’t have a BCC so I’m not sure if this is of any use
to you, but you might want to look at the September/October 1999 issue
of Ocean Navigator, page 112. There’s a how-to article for making pinrails
by Terry Sargent.  The drawing seems detailed enough and the plan
simple enough so you may be able to make it work.

Good luck,

Ken Smail

Thanks, Ken for your advice. I contacted Ocean Navigator this morning
hoping to obtain this back issue.
