Radio Ground

T Y, Gary, Mintaka II, for your reply. Sorry, I got you confused with
Mike Childers of Bcc Tuntsa, mabe I saw you at the Maharangi Cruising
Club Regatta, B O I , or Kawau Is.

I am keen on finding out more about S/V Rainbow Chaser’s 1’ X 2’
bronze plate radio/lightning ground. Rainbow Chaser was net control
for the Coconut Milk Run net, and they always had a great SSB signal
and reception. Do you have an email address for them?

Along your keel, how far forward and aft, and how wide is Mintaka
II’s bronze shoe? Also is it one piece fore and aft. Are there any
photos available? Do you remember the name of the installer, have his
address or email address?

Douglas, Calliste

  1. Re Rainbow Chaser. Yes, I have an email address for them but I
won’t post it on a bulletin board. If you’d like to send me your
email address, I will forward it to Rainbow Chaser and tell them of
    your interest.

  2. My bronze plate is on the bottom of the rudder to protect it from
damage if I bump a coral head again. Last time that happened the
paint was damaged and worms wormed in. So the plate is the size of
the bottom of the rudder. It was a custom casting because bronze bar
    stock wasn’t available.

Cheers,
Gary, Mintaka II
