If you can live with a “hard vang” over the skylight
then a Garshauer vang is the way to go. The
advantages are that it tightens up the entire rig. No
more flaying boom and a feeling of a secure main. We
moved the dink up forward of the mast over the skuttle
hatch and its a good compromise.
