I’d like that, and if you’d like to show her off in a photo shoot I’d be
pleased to reimburse you. I’m particularly interested in owner built boats
for obvious reasons.
If you don’t mind I’d like to crow just a bit, as today is a rather special
day. After two years of research, wailing and nashing of teeth, and worry
I’ve FINALLY gotten my wooden rudder glued up. The bloody drift rods were
every bit as much trouble as I thought they’d be. It was extremely difficult
to drill a stupid hole dead center lengthwise without it wandering off
center. It took me seven tries to get four serviceable holes through 21
inches of wood. I’ll be plugging the bad holes with 5200, and even the good
holes wandered enough that I don’t dare taper the stupid rudder from 2 1/2
inches down to 7/8 inch at the trailing edge as outlined in the plans – I’d
have bronze rod peeking out through the side! So this rudder will be a solid
plank with sharply defined corners at the trailing edge like the fishing
boats . George Buehler assures me this will work nicely (just don’t tell
Lyle – he won’t approve) The drift rods themselves are notorious for
bending like wet noodles when halfway home, so I was a VERY happy builder
when the last rod touched bottom without incident.
i just completed the purchase of bcc #65, should have her here in a week
or two. i am kind of on the way to gloucester if you want to stop and
see her as well. she has the standard layout, but is owner finished and
has a few different details.

not mine, I posted it for the general interest of the group, BCC’s for sale
