2003 Bronze Chainplates and Dyneema Rigging

Hi all,

I’m in the process of buying a 2003 BCC with “factory” bronze chainplates. Does anyone know where they would have sourced bronze plates in 2003? Just curious.

Also, she has her original standing rigging so I’m thinking it needs replacing and I’m thinking about going with synthetic. Has anyone on the forum used synthetic rigging on their BCC? Any advice on which type/brand you used? How do you like it? I’m looking at the Rigging Doctor channel on YouTube and thinking about using lashings and such instead of turnbuckles. (The headstay has roller furling, so will remain 316.)

Thanks!

I have wire headstays for the curlers and dyneema for the rest of the rigging. I used Colligo as my source for the dyneema and associated hardware. The reduced weight aloft makes quite a difference in pitching while going through chop. I used my existing turnbuckles for tensioning. I think lashing or deadeyes would be a pain. Colligo has the pieces to adapt your existing turnbuckles. John Franta at Colligo is a very willing helper and guided me through the entire process. The bronze chai plates were probably from Port Townsend foundry. That’s where I got mine.
