Hello
We own a wooden 24ft BCC yacht and considering adding a painted boot stripe, as she is currently having the hull painted.
I’m seeking advice on:
(a) the width of the boot stripe
(b) the placement of the boot strip to the anti-foul / water line.
(c) the stern and bow “flaring width” of the boot stripe.
After some conversations with a few boat painters, current advice is:
-
The distance of the boot stripe above the anti-foul line? 1-inch?
-
The width of boot stripe at midships? 3-inches? Have found some guidelines that suggest the boot stripe width should be 1-inch per 10 ft of the boat which translates to ~ 2.5-inches
For information, we have measured out a 3-inch boot stripe and accommodating the curvature of the hull whilst maintaining a 3-inch true vertical distance, this equates to a true distance over the hull curvature at the stern of ~ 4.5 inches; and at the bow ~ 3.25-inches.
Any advice will be welcomed and a photo is attached.
cheers
Patrick
