Does anyone know what Roger used as bedding for the cheek blocks on the rudder. It looks like tinted window glazing.
I am refinishing the cheek blocks and replacing the bronze carriage bolts in the rudder and want to replace the bedding compound.

Steve,
I’m pretty sure it’s Dolphinite Bedding compound. I have taken mine off to refinish as well. The Dolphinite remains soft and while it does seal out moisture from the joint the wood it doesn’t stick permanently to the rudder. Its great for bedding anything you may want to remove again at some point,

I agree with Wayne’s call on Dolphinite. I also have removed the
cheek blocks and am pretty sure that’s what it is. Should be
available through West Marine, Boats 'R Us, or any other marine
distributor.
A quick caution - Make sure you have the tiller in its slot when you
retighten the bolts around the rudder head. I put a shim of masking
tape (1 layer) on one side of the tiller to make sure I didn’t get it
too tight.

fellow BCC owners and those who want to be.
We should all get together and write book on BCC’s.
