Haven’t been aboard a BCC before, so just wondered if the port birth
when not extended into a double is suitable as a single birth for a
6 foot size male? Usable in port or as a sea birth? Looks from the
pics and diagrams that it could be the right size.

Yes it is. Some folks create a half-way out position too

I’m a little over 5’9" and use it exactly that way with plenty of
head room. My favorite place to be underway is in the pilot berth on
starboard tack. Once the seas come up a bit, the water off the hull makes
this wonderful lullaby.
