Center of buoyancy

Can anyone tell me about where the center of buoyancy on the BCC is, say in relation to the mast or something? TIA, Ron Downing, “Morning Star”

Ron: Hi!

You might find what you want in the Stability Information Book that I wrote for BCC28-116. With luck you’ll find it at the following:

Hi Bil, Wow, there’s a lot of information in there! I think I see the line I was interested in though. I’ve just been curious where the line is where stowing something forward of it means trimming her down by the bow. I had 300’ of 5/16" HT chain forward of the samson posts and that really trimmed her down so I added a piece of 2" conduit to drop the chain 4’ further aft and that at least got the bobstay tang out of the water, might try going even further if it feeds well. Thanks.

Ron: Hi!

Maybe you might want to read Zygote’s Stowage manual? Follow the link to …

Great stuff. I had a notion that the weight of that chain affected me by the square of the distance from CG but your document confirmed it. The one thing I knew for sure was that I was hobbyhorsing so bad when it was in the bow that I had to get it out of there. Sloooowly learning  Thanks
