I have a chance to get a used Fatty Knees 7’ dingy. I’d rather have the 8’ but from what I’ve searched on our site it looks like the 7’ is the best fit. Is it that the 8’ won’t clear the boom and/or does it come to far aft over companion way? Does the 7’ fit your needs ok?
Lanny,
We are looking for a Fatty Knees 7’. Our boat has chocks that will store a Fatty Knees 7’ upside down. These are mounted on top of the cabin ahead of the spray hood or turtle and from pictures that I’ve seen they work pretty well. I would be glad to send pictures and dimensions of the chocks if you get that far with the dinghy.
We are looking for a 7’ dingy but…I want it to fit over the skuttle hatch and between the mast and foredeck. I moved the windless forward on the sprit With a stainless steel mount thru which the the sprit can be inserted. The use of the main cabin takes away forward visibility and prohibits using a solid vang, both of which we considered to be serious negatives. Therefore, would be interested in hearing of dingys that will fit over the skuttle. Yes, want to sail this small boat. Has anyone tried a Portland Potty?
