That issue had at least two articles of interest to those of us
interested in the Bristol Channel Cutter as built by the Sam L Morse Co:
Chuck Malseed, ‘Lyle Hess: A Profile’; and
‘Down the Ways’, about the BCC and the Sam L Morse Co.
Nor’Sea Yachts has a copy of ‘Lyle Hess: A profile’ on its website at http://www.norseayachts.com/lylehess.html . The article gives useful
background on Mr Hess and is well worth reading. The few minor typos
(eg Bias for Blas, Lyre for Lyle) are easily ignored.
I’ve not seen ‘Down the Ways’. I’d be grateful if anyone can tell me
about it (and if it contains useful information on the development of
the BCC and the Sam L Morse Co).
Cheers

Thanks for pointing out the articles about Lyle Hess and the BCC.
If you ever find the second article, please scan and send it out if you can,
for the sake of posterity if nothing else. I’m sure that Lyle Hess and the
BCC (and Sam Morse Co.) have found their place in the seafarer’s history
books, and we should try to preserve what we can.

An excellent idea. I’d like to see a spot reserved for Lyle and his designs
at the Mystic Seaport museum where they really will be preserved…
just a thought.
