Not that I know.

The default gelcoat colours for hull and deck (meaning apart from special colour orders) were standards that Sam L Morse Co had set with Crystaliner Corporation.

Crystaliner built the hulls and the Sam L Morse Co boatyard occupied part of the Crystaliner lot on Placentia Avenue.

Crystaliner Corp had been started by Johnny Norek in 1955. Norek sold the company to John B. Owens’ Owens Yacht company in 1959 and stayed associated with the company. Owens Yacht Company was sold to Brunswick Boats in 1961. I think Brunswick was the owner Crystaliner when Sam L Morse Co operated its boatyard in Costa Mesa.

My guess is that someone in Crystaliner kept the formula for those default colours.

I don’t know what has happened to Crystaliner, or Brunswick Boats, in recent years.

Both Sumio Oya, the final president of Sam L Morse Co., and Roger Olson, the penultimate president, participate from time to time on the M. Zuckerberg controlled thing (Redirecting...).

That Zuckerberg-associated thing might be your best bet to contact either Sumio or Roger, just in case either of them remembers the recipe.

I think your own efforts (or those of a gelcoat colour-matching specialist) might have the better chance of getting to an acceptable colour match. Good luck.

Haha I don’t go near that crazy place. Thank you. I’ll keep looking and keep mixing and matching or at least trying. Cheers :slight_smile:

I similarly avoid the place.

I do however note that Sumio Oya has his own presence on that Zuckerberg thing. Sumio is quite active on his own presence/site/page and responds to questions.

I’ll have to see if I can find a friend who is on that site who may me able to help me. Thanks again

I’m not a user of the Zuckerberg thing.

The BCC owner who set up that site made it public, so anyone can point their browser to it. That means that a browser that has no cookie for the Zuckerberg empire can view everything on the site. You will be able to see the names of all the BCC owners who have participated.

That means that:

(1) after browsing the site, preferably with a browser equipped with blockers of advertising and/or an incognito browser window, or, even better, an anonymising browser such as Tor;

(2) you can exit the site and do your best to delete cookies associated with it (an anonymising browser does that automatically with each session, I hope); and then

(3) having noted the names of the users (names with which you are familiar), you can work out another way of contacting one of them. At least one of them uses as his Username on this forum the email address supplied to him by his employer. He will respond to that email address.
