Grease Cups & Seacocks

Attached is a photo of the grease cups I installed on all our WC seacocks - two per seacock. To grease the seacock we tighten the grease cup t-handle then wiggle the seacock handle while the handle is in the open position. I do this twice every so often to keep grease in the seacock.

The grease cups were purchased from Essexbrass - http://www.essexbrass.com/grease2.htm - Fig. 85.

We use Shell Retinax LC 2 grease in all our seacocks and to lubricate our winches. It is suitable for marine applications and much cheaper than the “special marine greases” sold in marine stores. It is also used to grease our Sabb G engine and the Sabb controllable variable pitch propeller, as well as the stuffing box.
