Halyards - 3/8, 7/16, or 1/2 ?

For new halyards, I see West Marine has 7/6" 3-strand white nylon line, and Defender has 3/8" and 1/2" 3-strand tan polyester line.

My line is original and is 15 years old, and I think it is from West Marine. It looks white, well actually it looks pretty grey and frayed!

Has anyone tried the tan 3-strand polyester line? If so,. 3/8" or 1/2" ?

hi Mark,
The tan line should be as good as any line except for some hi tech’s.The tan is just a color for traditional vessels, no different than standard 3 strand polyester.

Probably want 1/2 over 3/8 as it is easier on the hands.
