Hand Crank/ Bilge Plug

The replacement 3GM30F Yanmar engine that I installed in my BCC did
not come with a crank handle nor a place to insert it. The handle
listed in my parts catalog is only for 3GM30 , 3GM30-B , 3GM30C . I
suspect that the fresh water recirculation pump belt location covers
the access to the camshaft with a blind cover over it’s end , and
this is where I thought a crank handle might fit. Since a crank
handle won’t fit my engine, I thank Marty Chin for his advice as to
the Perkins - 108, I will try his “low battery” starting technique
next time.

A prior owner had installed the depth sounder transducer in the bilge
bottom, 8" abaft the aft balast dam. I plan to relocate it near the
sink drain through hull and plug the 2" diameter hole with a solid
cast bronze flush through hull fitting, this will be a heavy fitting
because the fiberglass is 2" thick at this location. The local
fishing boats use these solid through hull type plugs when an
existing through hull is abandoned in a wooden boat.
