Idiosyncratic uses of the secondary water tank

Sure, an extra 24 gallons of water could be a lifesaver. But what about 24 gallons of red wine or grog? Gotta meet the crew’s ration somehow!

Has anyone used the secondary tank or its space for a purpose other than drinking water?

I store my spare anchor chain in place of the secondary water tank. I removed the tank which is located under the engine. For coastal sailing, I did not need that tank. It was also very hard to clean. I have a discussion about it on the Bristol Channel Cutter FB page.

On Calypso, we have our watermaker - a power survivor 80 - mounted there (deep bilge aft of the ballast) - along with a slew of spare hoses and pvc, G10, and starboard offcuts. The watermaker DC.motor is mounted high - just under the floor board. The RO pressure chamber is down at the bottom.
