How do you get the stuff off? Cetol was applied
several years ago and had a yellowish look that was
not my choice. It does not sand off and I have let
the sun and wind take their bite. But remnants
remain. There are no easy all purpose coatings!!
Again has anyone gotten the product off? and how???

Cetol can easily be removed using a heat gun and a scraper.
The product today is much improved over the yellowy product of a few years ago, it does have pigmentation, but this is minimal, and the finish now looks like varnish.
The heavy coatings of Cetol that we removed from Jolie Brise came off with Peel Away. I use a scraper whenever I can as I find it easy to find the cutting edge between the wood and varnish. Hard to reach spots were removed using a scraper attached to a paint stirrer with West Epoxy. When removing any paint or varnish there is no easy go of it. I know there is a infrared remover ( Speedheater ) but it looks like it would only work on flat open surfaces because of its size. It is a bit expensive too. The heat gun is a good way to go but remember wood is like a sponge. Heat opens wood pores and cells and what you are scraping off is also getting deeper into the wood surface. After using a heat gun you must go back over the area with some solvent and do a clean up of what is left behind. Sand the surface well and then you should be ready to re-coat.
