Re: Cabin heater IDUNA

Ray:

IDUNA has a one-off interior arrangement.  The galley is by the companionway to port - U-shaped.  A quarter berth (the garage) is to starboard followed by the chart table, also on starboard.  Two half bulkheads, port and starboard, separate these areas from the saloon.  On the saloon's starboard side is a straight berth and to port is a L-shaped settee.  The saloon  table folds down into this area.

We mounted the heater on the starboard forward bulkhead above the port settee.  A Force 10 was previous mounted in this location.  Before we mounted the heater, we installed polychrome Dutch Delft tile on the bulkhead.  This location is not the best place to mount a heater but it is the only place.  Further, we were able to use the existing hole in the cabin top for the 3" O.D. chimney.  The hole was left from a Taylor kerosene heater, which had been in place before Pete and Diana purchased IDUNA.  I have attached two images of the saloon.  These were taken by Pete and Diana.  The Force 10 heater is shown.

IDUNA's interior is constructed from teak and Alaskan cedar.  Peter Thinius, the original owner, finished the boat.

I plan to take photos later.
