Folks with the SLM double anchor roller – do you find you anchor gets caught on the lower lip beneath the roller so that it won’t lower without some coaxing? The shackle highlighted at the anchor is what catches. I thought perhaps a roller without so much indent/groove would solve the problem, or else a wedge beneath the roller to keep the more forward.
Anyone cut away the lower flat portion of this roller to keep the chain from catching?
I noticed on some pics of other boats with the SLM double roller that the design is different, such that the frame for the rollers and the whole thing for that matter… is shorter in the fore and aft direction. The size looks more akin the roller/chainplate at the stem. Mine is certainly much longer fore and aft than that one. Wonder when the design changed… I guess I have an older version???
Ben, I don’t see any reason you can’t just take a grinder and grind back that area a bit.
Yup thats the plan … cut or grind back a bit of it… was just curious about the evolution of this piece at SLM…
Ben,
I had to take an angle grinder to that lower plate and made a couple of dished out places for the chain to be able to run free.
We’re a couple of days out of Seattle now.
