We are considering adding a technautics cool blue refrigeration system to our BCC. Any input positive or negative would be appreciated.

I installed the Technautics Cool Blue about 10 years ago. It has been running ever since non stop. I have been very happy with it… mostly. When it was new I tested its amp draw at 40 amp hours a day. Since then it seems to be closer to 60 amp hours a day. That is during the Hawaiian summer months during actual use. I installed the compressor in the compartment next to the ice box where the batteries used to be. A hole was cut in the panel for the air intake and another hole in the hanging locker for air exit.
When I installed it I didn’t tighten the connections tight enough so the freon leaked out. After getting it recharged it has worked well ever since.
I have only one complaint. It has a battery saving feature which cuts out the compressor below 10.8 volts. If the batteries are not completely charged and other high/med draw equipment comes on line the compressor cycles off and back on after a minute. If it still senses low voltage it continues to cycle. I have tested the circuit at the connection to the compressor and it is not anywhere near as low as 10.8 volts. So bottom line, that issue has been a nuisance when it is competing with other equipment but otherwise a great frig.

I installed the Technautics Cool Blue about 3 years ago. Until this summer, it has worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the compressor appears to have failed, which I am advised by the manufacturer is very rare (at the time of purchase, I was told to leave the fridge running all the time and that the compressor will last at least 30 years). I now have to return the compressor to the manufacturer for repairs.
It may be that mine is the anomaly - I do not regret having purchased this unit. By the way, my compressor is installed in the lazarette.

Wayne, I know we have already spoken about this but I would like to add the following for all to read. I have always found Randy at Technautics provided excellent customer support. He is available to walk you through problems and questions. Not only do I feel it is a good product but it is rare to find such excellent cooperation and support from a business that sells refrigeration for boats.

Thanks all for info. We moving in that direction, adding a battery or two, then the frig.
