Waterline

Greetings, is there anyone who can help me determine where my designed water line is on my FC? Anything you have to share or teach about this would be wonderful. Im preparing the boat for long distance cruising and trying to find the best way to balance her stores. For reference on my last journey on top of all my personal gear, crew, water and fuel I added 10 cases of wine, 6 33lb bags of dog food, 15 cases of canned and dry stores and an additional 2 full shopping carts of crap and was within about an inch of my water line aft and three at the bow.

Ahoy Sookie , it is not unusual to raise the waterline when we provision with food and equipment for extended voyages . I have way overloaded my BCC especially when living aboard . Gary of BCC Shanti , was a FC owner with much experience and can answer your question better than I .

In Port Townsend there are 2 FC’s in the Haven Marina , so you could take rub-rail down to the boot top waterline , measurements on them . Remember that boat yards raise the waterlines up a few inches at the bow for escetic reasons.

BTW , I still have that Discovery Islands B C , chart that you loaned me in Cortes Bay back in 2015 , it is out of print now , it is in my storage container in Port Townsend , but currently I am temporarily residing in Malta N Y , Ouch !

How nice to hear from you, that trip south was amazing with many fun and challenging days. I’d love to sail down and meet up with you guys if you get to PT before I head north this year. If we miss each other maybe you can just mail the chart at a later date as I’ll be needing it once I get backto that part of the world. Are you guys sailing back up there this year?

Ahoy Sookie , please check the private messages , I just sent you a reply ,
