BCC Waxwing For Sale

I was not expecting to do this, but Waxwing unfortunately is going up sale. I came across an awesome deal on a Schooner (The Ninita) and I bought her. I now need to sell my BCC.

Please check out my WW thread on this forum for latest pictures. The restore is almost complete, all the hard parts are done and can be finished quickly.

Some highlights of what Ive done:

New bottom paint
New Beta Marine 30 hp
New AWOL prop, New Shaft, Glide dripless seal system
New Engine Pan
New Stern Tube
New topside paint
Custom Engine Compartment
New 20 aluminum fuel tank

Happy to discuss, my asking price is $39,900 and the boat is on a trailer in Key Largo FL. Tom

Please contact me if still available. I could come down soon and take a look. Thanks.

Mike, yes still available, Tom

Tom,

Thanks for replying. I have looked at the posts available documenting your efforts in restoration of Waxwing. Looks like there was a ton of unexpected repairs needed when you bought the boat. I was wondering what is left to be done? Have you had Waxwing back in the water yet? How are the sails and standing rigging? Maybe we could talk by phone sometime if that works better for you than email. Either is fine for me.

I am looking for a boat to keep at the North Carolina coast. I live in Winston-Salem, so I am about 3 hours from the coast. With my schedule and family obligations, I cannot pick up and set sail for weeks at a time, however I can usually cobble together 3-4 days once or twice a month to sail. I would like to find a boat that would allow me to do this, often single handed, and also have the option for longer trips if I ever find the time. Waxwing would likely fit this bill well in addition to being a beautiful vessel.

Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike. There is still quite a bit to be done, but the hard stuff is done. The thread on the BCC forum is a pretty good description of what I’ve done to date. The work I have done is top quality as I was planning to make this my forever boat. If I finish the boat myself I will be selling for over a 100k.

I’ll try to give you a call soon, maybe today.

What’s left:

New thru hulls
Reinstall tanks
Finish counter top over motor
electric system
Install shaft and prop
Deck needs resurfaced, I was going to use SeaDeck
Bottom paint is new, but I’m about to remove paint and do a Copper Coat job.
Set mast, and rig boat

The boat cost me 25k and I have or have installed the following brand new:

Beta Marine 30hp (18k)
Dripless shaft seal system (1k)
Silicone exhaust and muffler system (2k)
Engine Pan from Cape George and new buttlerfly hatch (5k)
Stern tube and bearings ($500)
Electromaxx alternator and smart regulator (3k)
Electromaxx Watermaker (3k)
540 amp hour Dakota Lithium batt (3k)
Victron 3000 inverter charger (800)
Ewol feather Prop (3.5k)
New secondary aluminum fuel tank (1k)
2 part top side paint (2k in materials)
